October 9, 2001  AASPO MEMBERS:  TELL CONGRESS THAT ECONOMIC RECOVERY PACKAGE MUST RECOGNIZE IMPORTANCE OF REAL ESTATE 
President Bush and Congress get ready to begin work on an economic stimulus package to support the flagging economy.  But early indications are that small landlords and real estate investors will be left behind unless they make their voices heard, and do so immediately.  

September 24, 2001 AASPO President Pat Callahan Comments on the Attack.  AASPO stands united behind the President.  We will work closely with Gov. Tom Ridge as he assumes his new responsibilities for Homeland Security.  As property owners, we understand that our institutions must be effective, efficient and act in our individual and collective best interests. 

September 19, 2001, AASPO Filed an Amicus Brief Before the United States Supreme Court.   Tahoe-Sierra Preservation Council v. Tahoe Regional Planning Agency went to the U.S. Supreme Court from the 9th Circuit in California.  At the heart of this litigation, which has been going on since 1984, is the question of who should bear the cost of preserving Lake Tahoe for all citizens to enjoy. 

August 1, 2001  AASPO Announces Empowerment Forums   AASPO plans a dynamic new program to provide resources and know-how to our growing national network of citizen activists. We are planning a series of local and regional Empowerment Forums to motivate and educate grassroots citizens in the fundamentals of coalition building and public affairs promotion. Stay tuned for more details.

July 19, 2001 AASPO Files Brief In United Supreme Court on Important Case Out of California.  The American Association of Small Property Owners (AASPO) filed a brief in the United States Supreme Court as amicus curiae in the case of Galland v. City of Clovis*. 

June 20, 2001 ASPO Testifies at Congressional Hearing Against CARA Bill.    AASPO president, Pat Callahan, was the only property rights witness invited to testify before the U.S. House Resources Committee on June 20, 2001 on H.R. 701.  CARA, the Conservation and Reinvestment Act (H.R. 701), would guarantee $47 billion in federal funds over the next 15 years for the acquisition of private land and other government projects.
